“it’s the other chemical compounds in tobacco, and in the smoke created by setting tobacco on fire, that directly and primarily cause the illness and death, not the nicotine.”
“even with unanswered questions about benefits and risks, there are now different technologies to deliver nicotine, for those who need it, that doesn’t bring with it the deadly consequences of burning tobacco and inhaling the resulting smoke.”
“looking at ways to reduce nicotine levels in cigarettes so that they are minimally or non-addictive, while not altering the nicotine content of noncombustible products such as e-cigarettes, is a cornerstone of our new and more comprehensive approach to effective tobacco regulation.”
Vaper’s tongue is a term used for those times when your taste buds just decide to pack up and go on vacation for a while. It’s not a medical issue. The good news is that it's also not a permanent condition.
New vapers especially experience moments where they seem unable to taste the flavor in the vapor. Some veteran vapers also experience the same thing. A small number of people frequently experience this issue fairly regularly even after vaping for months or years.
There's a few different reasons this phenomenon can happen. Keep in mind this article isn't coming from a medical standpoint, so these concepts are strictly speaking, not scientific.
People who just switched from smoking cigarettes to using personal vaporizors (e-cigarettes) are prime candidates for vaper's tongue. You may not be aware but, smoking ruins your sense of taste. Once you stop smoking cigarettes, your tastebuds must become reacquainted with normal taste sensations.
The ability to taste things slowly awakens after a lengthy slumber. These new sensations can overload your sense of taste and strange things start happening. Eventually, all the stimulation becomes a little too much and your brain elects to close up shop for a little while to let your taste regroup.
As you adjust to life as a non-smoker this shut down effect is likely to happen several times. These shutdowns usually last anywhere from a few hours to a couple days. Gradually, your tastebuds start firing up again and you'll just realize at some point the flavor has returned all on its own.
Vaping will dehydrate you. Vapor actually absorbs the moisture in the surrounding air. Your mouth contains a lot of moisture, which the vapor will suck up like a sponge.
The result of this action is a dry mouth. With an amount of the moisture removed from your mouth, a thin film might form on your tongue. The film acts as sort of a barrier isolating your tongue (and taste buds) from the vapor.
When this happens, it's incredibly easy to fix. Water. Simply increase your water intake while you vape. If you find there is quite a bit of film built up on your tongue, you can scrape it off with your toothbrush. It's kind of a weird sensation, and if your family sees you, you might get funny looks, but it's quite effective at removing any buildup in your mouth.
Is there any particular flavor you call your all-day vape? Do you put out more white clouds than the Polar Express?
This could also be the source of your missing flavor. Constant exposure to the exact same flavor sensation can also cause your sense of taste to hit the high road. This happens because you're so frequently exposed to the same flavor that your brain treats that flavor sort of like the taste equivalent of white noise. You tune out the flavor similar to the way you tune out the drone of other diners in a noisy restaurant.
This cause is another easy fix. Shake things up a little. Experiment with some other flavors. Even if you like to stick to what you know, try to find two or three other flavors to swap between to keep things fresh.
Most people grasp the correlation between illness and the inability to taste things as well as usual. If you have the flu or a cold, chance are your sinuses are good and stuffed up, making breathing through your nose a Herculean feat.
The sense of smell is very tightly integrated into the sense of taste. When you are unable to smell effectively, it generally also means your sense of taste is equally dulled.
Since there is still no cure for the common cold, your best bet to beat this one is some chicken soup and a comfy blanket.
And then there's just the unexplained times when your taste leaves you with no excuse at all. It's like your tongue decided to stay in bed that morning while the rest of your body woke up. Maybe your tongue is still holding a grudge over that whole killing your taste buds with cigarette smoke thing.
These are the times that are probably the most frustrating. Nothing is wrong as far as you can tell, your normal flavors just aren't doing it for you.
Some vapers note that they regain their ability to taste e-liquid after switching to a particularly strong flavor helps revive things. Something with a lot of cinnamon or menthol (or both) does the trick.
Sometimes not even the most fiery cinnamon won't even help scare your tastebuds straight. Since you can't taste things normally, you might want to try a couple of these suggestions while you wait for things to return to normal.
Is there a bottle of e-liquid you thought would taste great but turns out you absolutely despise it? You can't taste anything anyway, why not break out the terrible stuff and save your good e-liquid for when you can appreciate it. Maybe your compromised sense of taste will actually make that juice you hate actually taste decent.
For that matter it can even be unflavored e-liquid, your tongue won't know the difference anyway. Keep a small supply handy so you can wait out any stubbornness your tastebuds decide to throw your way.
Let it Steep for a month!
Most e-liquids you thought had no taste or taste bad will blend fully, deepening and enriching in flavor over time. This will allow for your taste buds to recuperate and return to normal.
LINKS > STEEPING and OTHER TIPS
BURNT or PEPPERY Taste: Keep your atomizers/cartomizers wet. Dry atomizers or cartomizers can give a burnt or peppery taste and lower the lifetime of your device. A peppery taste is also a sign that the juice needs to steep longer, or you are getting a small amount of E-Liquid in your mouth from your atomizer/cartomizer.
PERFUMEY TASTE: Some flavors have a strong scent to them, this is usually eliminated with steeping. If the perfumey taste is still present after steeping. The flavor may need some extra steeping to 'breathe.' Remove the cap and dripper tip, store the E-Liquid in a cool dark place (Away from children and pets) for a couple of days.
Why Steep? Flavors blend and marry fully over time, so you will have a richer, deeper, more flavorful product after a few days or weeks of steeping.
This is especially true of tobacco flavors and larger bottle sizes. This is also generally true for all e-liquid. At ECBlend we make each bottle custom to your order (we have too many options and products to store premade with the options), usually you will receive the product within 3-5 days of creation. Let them sit for a few days or a week before vaping and you will find yourself with some very flavorful e-liquid.
STEEPING: Although most ECBlend E-Liquids taste great right out of the mailbox, some juices get even better when 'aged' or 'steeped'. This is especially true of complex blends, tobacco products, our Dragon series, 50mL bottles and larger sizes. E-Liquids taste a lot better after properly aged!
Time allows all flavors to be married together and mature, making them taste richer. TOBACCO Flavors generally taste better over time (steep for 1-2 weeks).
For best steeping results: Store e-liquid in a cool dark place (in a safe place AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS) and shake daily. (Steeping can be from 2 days up to 3 weeks. It is a personal preference) PG is a better flavor carrier than VG. The higher the VG content, the better it will taste with steeping.
SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE !! SHAKE YOUR BOTTLE !!
IN A HURRY FOR YOUR E-LIQUID? Try This!
(Note: Larger Bottles need shaking! Our 50ml bottles do not have a lot of extra room for mixing in the bottle as our other sizes do. They do require extra shaking and extra time to steep. With 100% VG E-Liquid, they are very thick and will mix slowly when shook.)
Seal the bottle tightly and air free in a zip lock bag, then seal it in another (tightly sealed and air free also).
Place the bottle in hot tap water for 10-15 minutes. This will allow for better mixing when shaking. This process can be repeated as much as needed to completely blend your e-liquid.

THIS REVIEW OF DRAGON'S TEAR truly shows how steeping made his experience much better:
Definitely a steeper or do I mean keeper
Posted by JamieFB on 11th Jul 2012
I ordered mine extra flavor and extra strawberry. At first my impression was very blah about it. I just stashed it away with my maybes and back ups.
About a week and a half later, I came back and decided to give it a go because I had blown 2 attys and didn't want to waste great juice. I tooted it a bit and (being the newby I was) finally learned what steeping is all about.
It was juicy and creamy. I went through the rest of the bottle in a day. Thank you Dragon's Tear for properly showing me that steeping can mean keeping. Definitely the best steep I've ever had.
WARNING: E-LIQUID PRODUCTS MAY CONTAIN NICOTINE. NICOTINE IS AN ADDICTIVE CHEMICAL. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN AND PETS

I've smoked dragon roar for a couple years now and won't smoke anything else. I've never found anything to compare. Love my hot cinnamon yet smooth as well. You'll never go wrong on this one.

I have never smoked, but I do vape a number of different flavors.
This is my go to "party vape" good, strong bite and mellow aftertaste.
Recommend steeping for good mix.

I just order and received dragons roar. Trying it right away, it gives a strong buttery sweet cream flavor overtone with a mild cinnamon after taste. With steeping I know the butter cream flavor will mellow out and the cinnamon will get a little stronger. The flavor is good but for my taste buds, it is absolutely outstanding mixing 50/50 dragons roar with nuclear cinnamon fireball. This mix gives it a perfect overtone of hot cinnamon and leaves a mellow light buttery sweet cinnamon after taste.

I've tried fireballs and hot cinnamon from different sites trying to find the perfect balance. One I found Dragons Roar the search was over! It's not over powering hot yet is so creamy I'm addicted. Been vaping this one over a year now. I took a break and ordered Dragons passion just to see if I could break my habit. while it tasted very nice more like a pomegranate I did like it an my daughter really loved it I couldn't wait to get back to the ROAR!!!

I haven't vaped anything but Dragon's Roar since the day I first tried it years ago! It tastes like Fireball (whiskey) to me. I've tried other cinnamon flavours from this & other vendors, but something about Dragon's Roar places it wayyy above all others. My heart would break if they stopped making it!

Maybe it's just me and my sister in law but I was sent a sample of this with my last order and it was just awful my sister in law will normally vape anything no matter what because if push comes to shove she just adds tons of mint and pushes through it she hates waste. However there was no saving this for us anyway we tried several times but it was just nasty we ended up dumping a tank of it down the sink. However neither one of us ever liked big red gum which is what this tastes like. I can see how some people might like it though.

Double extra flavor shot 50/50 blend 18mg nic. At first i will admit i really didn't like this stuff. It had a harsh taste that was almost metallic. After steeping for around a week the flavor mellowed out and probably is the best e liquid ive ever tried and ive vaped a lot of different brands.
Side not though, after vaping this for a week and going back to other flavors i once liked i could no longer taste anything when vaping them. I would get a slight hint of after taste but that's it. Either way i highly recommend this.

Can't really put my finger on this one, but the cream compliments the cinnamon wonderfully.
perfectly, immaculately.
without a doubt this is my favorite in the dragon series.
let me put it like this,
between this and blood, i feel no urge to pick a pack of 'ports up.
quite frankly, this flavor is brilliant.
30 mLs, after a week of steeping, was gone the following week. I vaped nothing but this. which doesnt happen often. (i get bored with flavors).
this one kickstarts my taste buds every pull.
i recommend this wholeheartedly.
seriously, try this. mmm mmm!!!

Ordered a 5ml of this blend to try it. To me the cream flavor overpowers the cinnamon to the point it has a cotton candy sweetness to it . I ordered the 60/30 probably wont order this again .

So after a week 10-28 to 11-5, I've noticed a giant difference in the taste of this liquid. The cinnamon burn is in full effect, and I'm getting that nice and sweet undertone.
I received a small bottle of the original Dragons Tear, and I found that adding 1-2 drops of this per mL to your tank definitely enhances the strawberry cream flavor behind the burst of cinnamon.
Overall, this is probably the best liquid I've ever had my hands on, and the best cinnamon liquid by a mile(next to cinnamon fireball, which also comes from ECBlends).
Top notch.
I plan on ordering an 8oz bottle of this in the near future, and with ECBlends discounts for returning customers, on top of the already excellent prices, makes them my #1 choice for liquid.

I purchased 40/60 PG/VG 6mg nicotine Dragons Roar, as I really liked the cinnamon fireball liquid, and I heard this was basically that, with a creamy undertone.
I have to say it is a lot sweeter than I expected, I assume the cinnamon flavor needs to steep at least a week to come to full flavor. I noticed a big flavor difference after a 10 day steep with Cinnamon Fireball.
Overall the flavor is great, not exactly what I was expecting, but it doesn't disappoint.

If there was a word that meant "super awesomely delicious yet enjoyable taste after taste"...it would be an example of that. Period. Made the 'mistake' of only ordering 30ml....this is def a "buy in bulk because its just that good" flavor. Wish they had a 250ml option....

I first tried this in March. Made the mistake of only getting 30ml of it. 50/50 18mg. It was fantastic right out of the bottle. Very unique take on cinnamon. Me and my best friend/room mate buy this in 4oz bottle. We kill it in 2 weeks. Everyone that has tried it has fallen in love. We keep a bottle of this available at all times.

4th order varied type. I recommend at least 50% PG. Reduced PG just wouldn't vape as well. prefer 70/30. 12mg. Vision Spinner with Kanger miniProtank 3. All 4 orders were very good. VERY consistent flavor from order2order without need to steep. Smooth medium/strong cinnamon flavor with strong but not harsh throat hit. Not too sweet; MY all-time favorite. Idk if I could've ditched analogs without Roar. I've tried several cinnamon juices. Nothing beats ROAR

wasn't the best of the dragon series I have tried. My favorite still Dragon Breath. All I really tasted was the cinnamon. So, for me, just average
Posted by Fox on May 08, 2014
I only let this steep 4 days, got a new kanger mini 2 and had to fill it. I got 12mg 40/60vg. Nice cinnamon/cream taste. Sooooo good! I will buy a bigger bottle.

I'm a cinnamon junkie and with vapes I love the extra kick it gives. Didn't disappoint me with this one at all. Just enough of everything to make this if you want an all day vape. First bottle was 5ml, then immediately ordered 30 ml. XF 6mg 50/50

I stumbled across EC online and when I found they had small "try it" bottles, I ordered several. I know they reccommend steeping but I just couldnt wait to try this. It was amazing!Just the right blend of cinnamon and cream. This is now my favorite.but it makes me eager to try more. I have already placed my next order. Also wanted to say thank you for the surprises that came with my order. Nice job EC!

Good cinnamon fireball flavor, but if found that it numbsmy tongue after a few vapes. Definitely not an all day vape. However, I keep this one in a Pyrex tank and use it sparingly as a way to cleanse the palette after vaping on other flavors

I'm not a cinnamon fan but must I say this is a perfect blend of cinnamon n cream!!! I tried a small bottle from a local shop who carries some ecblend and when I got home I ordered a 4oz bottle in a 50/50 for my RDA!!! I kno they say it needs steeping but it was perfect the day it arrived I kno it'll only get better after it steeps a week or so if it lasts that long!! I'll be ordering many more bottles in my near future!! Thanks Ecblend!!

I'm a brand new customer for ecblends, but WLL be a regular! Got several flavors, but this one is really good. Got 70-30 with a hit of menthol in 12 nic. Gonna try xf on next bottle but rationing this bottle till I can get more. I love it, straight out of mailbox! Great job, ec & thanks for the free samples. Trying to talk my local cape shop to stock your line!!!!!

Got this in 6mg nic 70/30 pg vg using an ego and a evod. I have really enjoyed this juice but ya got to steep for at least a week if not it has a funky after taste. I can't put this one down it has been in a tank ever since I got it. It taste just like big red gum to me even has a little heat on the inhale. This is a thumbs up for me love it. Everyone that has tried it has liked it so I have to order more for me and some of my friends.

I find it funny that there are reviews talking about how this juice both tastes like red hots/big red gum and cinnamon rolls. Two very different flavors here, which one is it?
Posted by kasey drake on Nov 16, 2013
Ive tried pretty much every juice u can try.
This juice,IF you like cinnamon, then u will definitely enjoy this sweet creamy solution. Its sweet, creamy and it has a slightly small bite to it.I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys cinnamon rolls in the morning or any other time for that matter.LOVE IT.

The flavor is so intense and you even get the tingling sensation on your tongue and throat that the Red Hots candy use to do.
Posted by Nesto on Oct 10, 2013
I ordered several flavors and Dragon's Roar is by far the best so far! I've also tried Dragon's Cafe, Chocolate Mint Coconut Crunch, Steven's Surprise, and Dynas Bananas. All of these are really good but the cinnamon/vanilla flavor that I get from Dragon's Roar is excellent and IS my "go-to" liquid!
Posted by Steven Brewer on Sep 19, 2013
If you like Big Red gum, you will love this stuff. Ordered 5ml 36mg with double extra flavor. Mixed to 60vg/40pg at 12mg/ml. Oh so good and oh so cheap.
Posted by Justin on Jul 15, 2013
This is the first flavor I ever ordered. And after trying about 10 others, I still come back to this one. Great cinnamon flavor on the inhale, smooth creamy taste on the exhale. Even my wife likes this, and she doesn't vape.
